Residential EV Charging Incentives:
Federal
Federal tax credit of 30% on hardware/installation costs capped at $1000 for residential and $30k for commercial.
EV Incentives
Federal Tax Credit up to $7,500. Phasing out for Tesla and GM; Nissan will likely sell it’s first 200,000 cars and have its rebate begin to be phased out at some point this year. There is also an electric motorcycle tax credit of up to $2,500.
Maine
EV Incentives
Efficiency Maine Trust offers a point of sale rebate ($2,000 for BEVs/$1,000 for PHEVs) with larger discounts to agencies, tribes and low-income residents. This can effectively offset the purchase and installation of a Level 2 EV charger for your home.
ReVision Energy and CMP customers are eligible for a $5,000 rebate off of a Nissan LEAF, or $2,500 rebate off of a Nissan LEAF PLUS.
New Hampshire
New Hampshire Electric Co-op (NHEC) will provide rebates of $300 to residential members who install Level 2 EV charging stations in their service territory. Rebates will help offset the cost of installing a second electric meter that will record your EV charging usage, and let you take advantage of a low off-peak rate when charging your EV. Members who already have a Level 2 EV charger installed in Co-op service territory are also eligible for the $300 rebate if they sign up for off-peak charging. When you participate in this program, you’ll be able to charge your EV during off-peak hours at a rate that is lower than the basic residential rate.
EV Incentives
NHEC also offers a $600 rebate for PHEVs and $1000 for BEVs.
ReVision Energy customers are eligible for a $5,000 rebate off of a Nissan LEAF, or $2,500 rebate off of a Nissan LEAF PLUS.
Massachusetts
The Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) is offering a rebate on the purchase of a Level 2 charging station. Up to $500 for a networked, or “smart” charging station, and $100 for a non-networked station.
Multi-unit dwellings: The Massachusetts Electric Vehicle Incentive Program (MassEVIP) provides grants for 60% of the cost of Level 1 or Level 2 charging equipment installed at MUDs, up to $50,000. Eligible entities include private, public, or non-profit MUDs with ten or more residential units.
Eversource is offering to manage and cover all the related cost of the implementation of the infrastructure that will connect to their customers’ chargers. This includes, but is not limited to trenching, a transformer (if deemed necessary), a dedicated service meter, panel(s) and all conduits and necessary wiring to support the approved number of charging stations. Infrastructure for up to ten Level 2 chargers can be put in place. Customers cover the cost of purchasing and installing the charging station(s).
*** Eversource is also joining Nissan to offer customers a $5,000 rebate off the MSRP toward the purchase of a new 2018 Nissan LEAF through 9/30/2019 ***
National Grid’s Massachusetts Electric Transportation program will fund 100% of the electric service to new charging stations, and provide a rebate for the charging stations themselves. The Level 2 charging station rebate for a multi-unit dwelling is up to 75%.
Braintree Electric offers $250 for installation of level two chargers for residential customers.
EV Incentives
Through the MOR-EV program, effective Jan 1, 2020, BEVs priced below $50k are eligible for a $2,500 rebate. PHEVs with 25-mile all-electric range can qualify for $1,500 rebate. [Note BEVs are exempt from state emission testing]
ReVision Energy, National Grid, or Eversource customers are eligible for a $5,000 rebate off of a Nissan LEAF, or $2,500 rebate off of a Nissan LEAF PLUS.
Commercial EV Charging Incentives:

Note for employers: This incentive will run out at the end of 2020 (and is retroactive through beginning of 2018 so it could apply to a number of you who already installed equipment!)

Efficiency Maine will re-open a grant program for Level 2 chargers for workplaces, public and destination charging at some point in 2020. Give us a call and we will make sure you are set up for success.
Utility programs offered by CMP and Emera Maine have pending applications before the Maine PUC for consent to create make-ready pilot programs to help subsidize the cost of EV charging infrastructure. TBD 2020.

New Hampshire
NHEC now offers incentives for the installation of new electric vehicle charging stations to NHEC commercial and municipal members. Install up to two Level 2 or larger charging stations and qualify for an incentive of 50% of installed cost up to $2,500. Maximum incentive available per property is $5,000.
Eversource has a pending application before the PUC for consent to create make-ready pilot programs to help subsidize the cost of EV charging infrastructure. TBD 2020.
Massachusetts
Workplace Charging: MassEVIP provides grants for 60% of the cost of Level 1 or Level 2 workplace EVSE, up to $50,000. Eligible entities include private, public, or non-profit workplaces with 15 or more employees on site.
Fleet Charging: MassEVIP provides grants for the purchase or lease of qualified PEVs, zero emission motorcycles, and Level 2 charging equipment. Eligible applicants include local governments, public universities and colleges, and state agencies. Applicants may receive funding for a maximum of 25 vehicles, including BEVs, PHEVs, and zero emission motorcycles. Funding of up to $7,500 per address is also available for Level 2 charging equipment associated with the purchase or lease of at least two BEVs. Incentive amounts vary depending on the number of BEVs acquired.
